Who we are

StarNote Atlas (starnoteatlas.com) is a hobby collector site for U.S. paper money worth keeping. This policy explains what we collect, what other people can see, and how to ask us to delete your account. It is written for this product, not as a generic template.

Privacy questions: privacy@starnoteatlas.com.

What we collect

  • Account. Email and password (handled by Firebase Authentication). Email is not shown on public pages.
  • Public collector identity. The username you choose, plus the notes you log.
  • Note details. Denomination, series, serial number, star flag, type/seal, district, signatures, condition, optional found city and state, and optional photos.
  • Owner-only fields. Price paid and private notes. Original full-size photos stay owner-only. Display and thumbnail photos are public.
  • Usage and ads. If Google Analytics is configured, it collects typical site-analytics data such as pages viewed, approximate location, device, and browser. We also set a session cookie so you stay signed in. Google AdSense loads on the site and may use cookies and device data to show ads, including ads based on prior browsing.

What is public

Every saved note is public. That is the product: passports at /{username}/{serial}, collector pages, and Explore. Other people can see your username, note details, found city/state if you entered them, and display photos.

Found city plus a public username can identify a person. Do not log a home town, workplace, or other precise place if you do not want that joined to your collector name. Location is never stored on your profile document itself, only on notes you choose to save.

Photos and serial detection

Serial detection runs in your browser. We do not send photos to a third-party OCR service. If you save a note with photos, compressed images go to Google Firebase Storage so the passport can display them.

We do not keep the original camera file. Before storage we re-encode the photo as a new JPEG and strip camera metadata such as GPS, device model, and timestamps. That is not a substitute for skipping found city and state if you do not want a place on the passport.

Who processes data for us

We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage) and Vercel to host the site. We use Google AdSense for advertising. If analytics are on, we use Google Analytics. Those companies may process data in the United States. We do not sell collector emails or collection lists. Google may use cookies to fund the site with ads; you can manage personalized Google ads at Google’s ad settings.

How long we keep it

Account and note data stay until you delete a note or ask us to delete the account. Deleted notes remove that note’s Firestore records and stored photos. Share links only add UTM parameters to the URL; they do not create an extra tracking database.

Your choices

  • You can skip found city, photos, price, and notes.
  • You can edit or delete individual notes while signed in.
  • You can sign out at any time. That does not delete the public collection.
  • To delete your account and remaining data, email privacy@starnoteatlas.com from the same address you use to sign in. We will delete the Firebase account, profile, notes, and photos we still hold. We may keep a minimal record of the request.

If you are in the EEA, UK, or California, you can also use that address to ask what we have, ask for a copy, or ask us to correct or delete it. We do not sell collector emails or collection lists.

Children

The site is for adults and older teens who collect paper money. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child under 13 created an account, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the date above. Continued use after an update means the new policy applies to later use of the site.
